It can be tough researching candidates on your own. Sure, you might have an idea about voting for president. But what about all these other people on the ballot?
That’s where we come in.
From races for governor to the state legislature to soil and water commissioner, we’re supplying the information you need — for 5 Charlotte-area counties — including links to a variety of sources to help you cast your vote. Here’s a 4-minute tutorial on how to use this Election Hub.

Early voting: Thursday, Oct. 17, 2024, through Saturday, Nov. 2, 2024. Each county's board of elections website posts the locations and hours of early voting.
Absentee ballots: Must be requested by Tuesday, October 29, 2024. Return deadline is November 5, 2024. Request an absentee ballot.
Election day: Tuesday, November 5, 2024. Polls are open 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

2024 General Election: Statewide Races
There are 14 races that will appear on every North Carolina voter’s ballot. Ten of these are the N.C. Council of State which are the elected offices of the executive branch of the state. The remaining four races are for elected judicial positions: one opening on N.C. Supreme Court and three on the N.C. Appeals Court.
What candidates are on the ballot in each county?
In every county, voters will elect a member of Congress, state senators and representatives, judges and a number of county positions including commissioners and registers of deeds. Some counties have elections for school board, and some cities have bond referendums.
We recommend finding your sample ballot, then reading about the races in your county:
