What? Environmental pollutants—microplastics, PFAS plasticizers, pharmaceuticals, and flame retardant—have found their way into our air, soil, and water, and consequently into human tissue. The result? Adverse effects on reproductive, gastrointestinal, and neurological health and an increase in related cancers. Join the members of Senior Scholars on Friday, February 20th (10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Providence United Methodist Church) as Dr. Olay Keen, an Associate Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at UNC Charlotte, discusses where we stand and how we move forward to address an ever-growing problem. Dr. Keen is the author of over 30- peer-reviewed articles on contaminants of emerging concern.
